Bayern Munich sent Messi-Mbappe to the quarter-finals

Bayern Munich 3 : 0 PSG (over two legs)

Bayern Munich would have gone for a goalless draw, but PSG needed more goals. Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe will score goals, digested upside down.

After the first leg in Paris, PSG lost 2-0 in the second league in Munich today. Bayern Munich advanced to the quarter-finals of the Champions League by winning 3-0 in two legs.

With this, PSG left the last sixteen of the Champions League for two consecutive seasons.

Former PSG player Kingsley Koeman scored for Bayern in the first leg at Parc des Princes four weeks ago. This time in the second leg at the Allianz Arena, Bayern’s hero is another former PSG player – Erik Maxim Chupo-Moting. Serge Ginabri scored another goal at the end.

Bayern knew that a goalless draw would guarantee the quarter-finals. However, the German club focused on pressing the game from the beginning of the match as the gap of one goal is not a big deal.

However, PSG created the best scoring chances first. In the 24th minute, Nuno Mendes’ extended ball was received by Messi in Bayern’s small D-box. However, the Argentine star’s first shot from close range was blocked by a defender. The second shot was blocked by Bayern goalkeeper Jan Sommer. Messi’s third attempt was of no use when the surrounding was tangled by then. The Bayern goalkeeper took control of the ball with his hands.

In the 31st minute, Jamal Musiala’s shot from the left was blocked by Gianluigi Dhanarumma.

Matthias de Leete saved Bayern in the 37th minute. Vitinia got the ball through a mistake by the Bayern goalkeeper. The goal post was empty. Realizing the danger, de Leet quickly ran to the goal. The Dutch center back blocked Vitinia’s shot just before it touched the goal line. Both teams went into the break with a goalless scoreline.

Bayern Munich created the first good chance in the second half. Musiala’s shot, however, deflect before heading into the goal. Joshua Kimmich’s effort from the return ball rule out for Chupo-Moting offside. The Cameroonian striker put the ball in the net in the next minute. But it was ruled out for offside.

Chupo-Moting got a goal in the 61st minute by keeping this line of attack. Thomas Muller snatched the ball from Verratti in the PSG defense and sent Goetka through. Goetka gives Chupo-Moting standing in the gap. The striker, who joined Bayern from PSG in 2020, had no problem sending the ball into the net with a cool head.

Like the first leg, PSG had no choice but to be more attacking after falling behind by one goal in the second leg. And while doing that, the defense wall loosened. The chaotic attack did not develop, Serge Ginabri scored another goal in the 89th minute to confirm PSG’s defeat.

Mbappe and Messi, who threatened the Bayern defense several times in the first half, could not create any scoring chances in this half. The two chances that did arise were Sergio Ramos’ headers. One was blocked by the Bayern goalkeeper, another narrowly missed.

At the end of the day, losing goals is PSG’s Champions League-dream. Like last time, this time too, farewell from the last sixteen.

AC Milan also made it to the last eight on the night of Bayern’s quarter-final run.

The Italian club drew goalless at Tottenham in the second leg of the last sixteen. In the first leg of the two teams with a 1-0 lead, AC Milan made it to the quarters.
