PSG coach excited about Mbappe on Messi’s record night

Is Lionel Messi the first to score 700 goals?

According to the IFFHS, a research organization on the history and statistics of football, Cristiano Ronaldo is the first to reach the milestone of 700 career goals in top level club football. But if the criteria is a team in the top five leagues in Europe – Messi is the first. Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo scored 696 goals playing in England, Spain and Italy. His remaining goals are in Saudi Pro League and Portuguese Primera League.

Messi has yet to play outside of Europe. After spending a long time in Barcelona, he is now playing in France’s PSG. The Argentine captain, who scored 672 goals in his Barca career, scored his 28th goal for PSG yesterday. Messi became the first player to score 700 goals in Europe’s top five league clubs.

Messi also assisted two goals in a record-breaking day against Marseille in Ligue 1. And with those two goals, Kylian Mbappe has touched a great milestone in the history of PSG. Mbappe now has 200 goals for the Paris club. This is the highest goal scored by anyone for PSG.

Earlier, Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani also scored two hundred goals. However, it took Cavani 301 matches to reach the ‘two-point mark’ of goals, Mbappe reached it in 246 matches.

Mbappe’s landmark goal in the 55th minute against Marseille was sublime. It was Messi’s 12th assist of the season. Marshe entered the defense from the left side and passed the ball to Messi inside the D box. Messi put the ball over the defenders’ heads with great skill to Mbappe. Mbappe put the ball in the net with a left foot volley.

At the end of the match, PSG coach Christophe Gaultier praised the 24-year-old French forward’s play, saying, ‘Mbappe knows when to be on which side. Can also run very fast. (For goals) Not only has two great feet, but can also use speed tremendously. Now Cavani has touched, will definitely go to the top.
